Most people don’t realize that their book page on Amazon is really a sales page. And if you take a closer look you will see all the elements that go into a sales page… You have social proof with reviews, stars. facebook and twitter, you have a big ol’ buy it now button, you have plenty of purchase options and awesome content, all geared to sell.
Amazon doesn’t really care if they buy your book, all they care about is for the visitor to buy something (which usually happens). And so if you notice that below the sales copy and book details there are related items, they are competing with you the moment someone views them.
It is true that Amazon gives you a 30 day grace period when you first publish your book and helps you promote it nicely. So you had better take advantage of this and not have to go back months later to improve your book description.
So once someone lands on your Book Sales page you had better catch their attention and keep it while pulling at their heartstrings to buy it now.
